Dywilan Wovengrass woven artificial sports turf technology

Wovengrass is woven artificial sports turf created on the foundation of Dywilan’s weaving tradition and modern synthetic surface standards. Our technology combines durability, playing comfort, and sustainability — including 100% recyclability at the end of its lifecycle.

\\ Why do we produce woven artificial sports turf?

Dywilan’s Weaving Tradition

For over 140 years, we have been developing textile technology in Łódź. Dywilan Wovengrass transfers this expertise into the world of football pitches, multisport facilities, and indoor arenas. We were the first to develop a woven sports turf system that sets new standards in durability and sustainability.

Surface durability – W-type weave

Surface durability – W-type weave

  • The W weave provides very high resistance to tuft pull-out and wear.
  • Longer field lifespan (up to 50–100%).
  • Consistent performance over many seasons of intensive use.
Installation efficiency and maintenance performance

Installation efficiency and maintenance performance

  • Even distribution of fibers and infill makes installation easier.
  • Vertical fiber orientation = less brushing, faster maintenance, lower upkeep costs.
100% turf recyclability

100% turf recyclability

  • A homogeneous material structure enables full recycling without layer separation. Zero field waste — a real advantage of an eco-friendly sports surface.
365-day product – year-round field use

365-day product – year-round field use

  • An all-season playing surface suitable for various climate zones. Stable performance in summer and winter — ideal for academies, schools, and indoor facilities.
Turf sustainability – minimal backing adhesive coverage

Turf sustainability – minimal backing adhesive coverage

  • Minimal use of environmentally friendly adhesive.
  • Option to use natural infills (e.g. cork) — less microplastics.
Natural turf appearance – three shades of green

Natural turf appearance – three shades of green

  • A three-tone green palette recreates the look of natural grass.
  • Enhanced aesthetics of the facility and a more “organic” feel for players.
High water permeability – min. 4700 mm/h

High water permeability – min. 4700 mm/h

  • Fast drainage after rainfall, reducing downtime.
  • Safe use after rain, with a lower risk of puddles.
Design integration – woven-in lines and markings

Design integration – woven-in lines and markings

  • Option to weave in field lines, logos, or markings without additional painting.
  • Durable markings, consistent aesthetics, and lower maintenance costs.

\\ Weaving vs. Tufting – What makes woven grass different?

Tufting involves “injecting” fibers into a backing and securing them with a PU adhesive layer. While this synthetic turf is easier to manufacture, it is more difficult to recycle and less resistant to long-term use.

Weaving (Wovengrass technology) creates a true textile structure: fibers are interlaced with warp and weft threads. The result:

  • Higher tuft bind strength (W-type weave structure),

  • Vertical fiber alignment and more natural ball roll,

  • Homogeneous material → 100% recyclability without adhesive separation.

\\ How Is Dywilan woven grass made?

In Wovengrass systems, fibers are woven into the backing structure — not injected. This means:

  • Yarns permanently anchor the tufts within the fabric,

  • Fibers remain upright, improving playing comfort and ball roll,

  • Maintenance is more efficient, and the uniform profile facilitates even infill distribution,

  • The material is homogeneous, enabling 100% recycling.

\\ 100% recyclability confirmed by an independent laboratory report.

Our woven turf systems consist of PE (polyethylene) and PP (polypropylene) fibers, bonded with PE (polyethylene) adhesive. Polyethylene and polypropylene belong to the same polyolefin raw material group and melt at the same temperature (122–124°C). This allows the turf to be recycled and transformed into other fully valuable products.

Dywilan Wovengrass Means:

  • 100% recyclability after the surface lifecycle ends,

  • Zero-waste approach and reduced microplastics,

  • Raw material recovery and reuse.

\\ Photovoltaics on the Dywilan roof – green energy in production

A photovoltaic installation on the roof of our headquarters in Łódź powers the production of woven artificial sports turf. By using renewable energy sources, we reduce our carbon footprint, stabilize costs, and support ESG goals.

We generate approximately 260 MWh of green energy annually, reducing emissions by 96 tons of CO₂ — equivalent to planting 15,000 trees.

Photovoltaics, combined with our 100% synthetic turf recycling system, makes Dywilan Wovengrass the right choice for investors seeking environmentally responsible sports surfaces.
